Starter Locs
Starter. The starter (aka "baby") stage of the loc process can last anywhere from three to six months, depending on your hair type and how fast it grows. There are several styles—such as braids, two-strand twists, comb coils, and palm rolls—that you can choose from to start your locs.
Kinky Twists
Kinky twists are a protective hairstyle made by twisting synthetic hair into your hair to add length and texture, resulting in coily twists. This kinky hair style for ladies is popular among women with Afro-textured hair and is known for its versatility, durability, and low maintenance requirements.
Micro Locs
Microlocs are a tinier, more lightweight version of dreadlocks. They are more versatile and easier to style. They are also more cost-effective than sisterlocks, which are very small dreadlocks that require an interlocking tool and a loctition to install.
Sisterlocks
Sisterlocks are a versatile natural hairstyle that consists of tiny-sized dreadlocks. Instead of relying on a twisting or rolling technique, sisterlocks are created by using a special tool that builds the locks from the ends of hair to the root.
InterLoc
Interlocking is the dreadlock development process of taking the tip end of a dreadlock strand and then threading it carefully between the loose hair follicles growing out from the base. Interlocking is like threading a needle into a stitch, except the thread is a dreadlock tip, and the stitch is your scalp.
Crochet Braids
Crochet braids, also known as latch hook braids, are techniques for braiding hair that involve crocheting synthetic hair extensions to a person's natural hair with a latch hook or crochet hook. While crochet braids are a hybrid of traditional braids, they're considered to be more similar to weaves.
Box Braids
Box braids are individual plaits that are usually divided by small squared off parts or boxes. Box braids may be of any width or length, but most women add synthetic or natural hair to the braid for length as well as thickness and fullness.
Silk Press
A silk press is a non-chemical straightening service that is typically done on curly or coarse hair. To achieve a silk press, the hair is shampooed, blown out, and then “pressed” with a flat iron. The process results in hair with a smooth and silky finish, which is how the service got its name.
Locs Retwists
Loc retwisting is a maintenance technique used to maintain dreadlocks that involves twisting and tightening the hair at the roots. It helps to keep the locs looking neat, tidy, and well-defined. This process is typically done every four to six weeks, depending on the hair type and growth rate.
Loc Extensions
Permanent loc extensions are the natural human hair threads crocheted in the form of dreads to give the natural human hair extra length and volume. It is the hairstyling technique for transforming loose, natural hair into locs that look beautiful and natural.
Finger Coils
A finger coil is a type of curl achieved by wrapping your hair around your finger. The end result is these tight and bouncy coils in your hair. They are fun yet professional and full of volume! The key to amazing results for your finger coils is a little bit of patience and a whole lot of care.
Relaxer
A relaxer is a type of lotion or cream generally used by people with tight curls or very curly hair which makes hair easier to straighten by chemically "relaxing" the natural curls. The active agent is usually a strong alkali, although some formulations are based on ammonium thioglycolate or formaldehyd
Corn Rows
a type of braid, originating in Africa, in which a narrow strip of hair is plaited tightly against the scalp from front to back or from side to side. Usually cornrows. a hairstyle consisting of such braids in close parallel rows.
Full Highlights
Full highlights include lightened sections all over from the top of your head to the nape of your neck. This method can produce heavy and dramatic highlights or soft and subtle looks too.
Loc Reattaching
Attaching locs is reattaching a loc that already existed. Reattachment is for when you cut your locs off and then reattach the locs. Or you bought locs and are attaching them to your natural hair. Loc extensions are only for if/when you want to extend your locs.
Color
Hair coloring works by coating each strand with color (non-permanent color) or by penetrating each hair cuticle, entering the hair cortex, and bonding with the hair (permanent color). While non-permanent hair color can be shampooed out eventually, permanent color, as the name suggests, permanently colors the hair.
Loc Wrapping
Locs Wrapping can simply done by making a knot at the top of the desired area, then wrapping the thread around the dread without leaving any "free spaces". You may use more than one color by attaching new thread everytime you are done with one color, or by attaching threads of all the colors you want from the beginning and start wrapping using one color at a time.. then secure with a knot at the end.
